TENNESSEE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL
BOARD OF DIRECTOR’S MEETING
May 21, 2009

The Meeting was called to order by President Walt Wood.  Board members participating included Spencer Sessions, Don Hurst, Mike Evans and Tim Thompson.  Kayla Taylor with Younger Associates and Suzie Lusk with the Tennessee Chamber also participated.

Business Items included the following:

Review of Minutes

The Minutes were distributed from the February 18th Board meeting.  A Motion to Approve by Sessions and second by Thompson.  The Motion passed unanimously.

Review of Financial Statements

Financials were presented.  Approved by Evans with a second by Sessions.  The Motion passed unanimously.

2009 Day on the Hill
We had a great turnout – We have the only reception that evening which resulted in good attendance along with longer attendance by each at the event.  

Spring Conference
The conference went very well with approximately 85 in attendance.  The sessions were well attended.   

Fall Conference
The date has been set for October 7-9, 2009 at the Meadowview Conference Center in Kingsport, TN.  Don Hurst and Suzie Lusk will meet with the hotel, chamber and CVB May 28th to discuss the conference.   Any ideas for speakers are welcome.

Regional Meetings
Each director is responsible for programs.   Regional Meetings can take place at any time.

New Business
Volunteer of Year and Professional of Year Award nomination forms have been sent

Nominating Committee for new board will be appointed by the TEDC president.  Walt appoints a five member Nominating Committee with the immediate Past President, Doug Lawyer, as chair.  (The committee consists of one current Board Member, One Past-President and one member representing each grand division of the State).
The only two positions to appoint are the Secretary/Treasurer (Middle Tennessee is up for this) and a West TN Representative.
