TENNESSEE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL BOARD OF DIRECTOR’S MEETING
Conference Call
June 18, 2008

The Meeting was called to order by President Doug Lawyer.  Members participating included Don Hurst, David Hamilton, Spencer Sessions, Paul LaGrange, Kayla Taylor and Sharon Younger with Younger Associates and Suzie Lusk with the Tennessee Chamber also participated.

Business Items included the following:

Review of Minutes

The Minutes were distributed from the April 11, 2008 Board meeting.  A Motion to Approve by Spencer Sessions with a second by Doug Lawyer.  The Motion passed unanimously.

Review of Financial Statements

Financials were presented at the Spring Conference.  Originally, a $27,000 deficit was presented and approved.  The budget committee met and found ways to cut the 2008 budget.  The committee made up of Paul Latture, Doug Lawyer and David Hamilton.  Additional income has been received in Membership Dues, Spring Conference Registrations and Spring Conference Sponsorships.  Expenses were cut in Institute Scholarships, Board Retreat/Planning, and Past President’s Dinner.

Board Nominations
The nomination committee will be named by July 24th.  Announcement of Board vacancies will be announced to the membership and nominations will be due by August 8th.
Openings on the board are Secretary/Treasurer position along with a Middle Tennessee Director. (if our East TN director moves up to Sec/Treas, we will also have an East TN Director position open).

Fall Conference
The TEDC Fall Conference will be held September 24-26, 2008.  The Awards will be presented at the Thursday Night Dinner.   The notice for these awards will be mailed and emailed in July and the deadline for nominations will be August 25th.  The past five Presidents of TEDC will review and vote on the winners.

Regional Meeting
The Middle TN Regional Meeting will be held on July 24, 2008.

Dues Structure Review Committee
Don Hurst and Spencer Sessions are reviewing the dues along with Jim Stock and will be naming a Middle TN rep.  Information is being received on other states association dues.

New Members
The following individual’s applications were reviewed for membership:
1.  Emily Jones, Clarksville/Montgomery County
2.  Emily Sullivan, Gibson Electric

There was a Motion by Paul Latturre to approve the New Members Applications with a second by Doug Lawyer.  The Motion passed unanimously.
