REDI Director

Job Title: Director of REDI (Regional Economic Development Initiative)
Program area: Economic and Community Development
Job Objective: Coordinate and oversee a successful multi-county regional economic development effort in West Tennessee.
Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for developing an asset based regional economic strategic plan with base line benchmarks
  • Identifying and developing “Centers of Interest” such as education, workforce development, economic development, broadband deployment, etc.
  • Organize and conduct group meetings of these “Centers of Interest”
  • Developing a communication strategy for “Centers of Interest” stakeholders
  • Work closely with local leadership to identify areas of regional collaboration
  • Serve on local committees, advisory boards, task forces, etc. when requested or representation is significant to the agency or program
  • Serve as  liaison between agency and primary consulting firms
  • Facilitate public relations efforts within program area
  • Perform  related tasks as assigned
  • Seek out and identify sources of funding for REDI and assist in preparing applications for such funding

Marketing and Community Relations
Essential Functions:

  • Represent the organization to the community in conjunction with the Director and other staff members
  • Work closely with WestStar Leadership Alumni to develop an understanding of regional economic development and to encourage participation in REDI
  • Develop a working relationship with local, regional, and state economic development agencies
  • Assist in the coordination of marketing efforts internal and external to the organization

Administration
        Essential Functions:

  • Provide regular reports to the Director and stakeholders as required
  • Attend organization and staff meetings as required

Minimal requirements/Performance Standards:

  • Bachelors degree (or equivalent work experience) required
  • Minimum five years experience in the field of economic and community development
  • Public speaking and presentation experience
  • Ability to effectively collect, organize, and retrieve large amounts of data
  • Knowledge and ability to utilize office equipment and computer software
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff and community stakeholders
  • Must have valid Tennessee driver’s license and reliable vehicle for transportation

  Salary: $50k-$60K depending on experience. Excellent benefits include agency paid health, dental, and vision insurance. SWTDD is a participant in the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System (TCRS)
